13 days old Eurasian Griffon Vulture chick

Although heaven was dark and grey I went to the Zoo of Duisburg to meet the 13 days old Eurasian Griffon Vulture chick.
Vulture-daddy was sitting next to the chick, while vulture-mommy collected a bunch of grass and sticks. Carefully she tried to dry her chick's skin with grass, very caringly!!!

A moment later the vulture-parents changed their position in the nest. Vulture-daddy kept watch next to the nest and vulture-mommy, hard-working as usual, arranged the nesting material to make the nest more comfortable.
Cute, tiny wings...... but in just few months the fledgling will have a wingspan of 2,70 m!!!
At lunchtime vulture-mommy regurgitated some meat for her chick. Obviously the pieces of meat are getting bigger now, not just carrion-mash like four days ago ;-)

All in all it seemed to me the chick did not like the cold and wet weather, cause it was hiding under the warm and fluffy feathers of vulture-mommy very soon.
